Discordianism

Discordian humour is not just for laughs. It has Deep Esoteric Meaning. Discordians noticed that humour often contains deeply true, deeply meaningful, often quite touching truths, so we decided to exploit that. I have read Discordian scripture that started out being funny and ended up being so sad and meaningful that it almost made me cry! (It takes a lot to make me cry.) (That particular scripture was the story of Saint Pesher the Gardener.) Discordian humour is deep, meaningful, esoteric, and makes you think. It may have "filler" in it at times, but if it's all fluff and no substance, then the person who wrote it hasn't "got it" yet. We've seen Wicca become overcome by fluffy-bunny-ism, we don't want it to happen to us. So if you see a "fluffy" Discordian, help us out by jaking (spamming) him/her with enlightening (confusing) stuff to help them "get it." (And remember, nothing's more confusing to a newbie Discordian than a serious Discordian).

My final miracle will be to show how Discordianism is a real religion. I will start out by exploring Wicca, a federally recognized religion. Wicca, recognized as a religion by the U.S. Government, has so many disparate pantheons, theologies, philosophies, hierarchies, and sects that despite it being only being less than a century old, there are more ways to be a Wiccan than there are to be a Christian. Bring three Wiccans together, and you may have as many as 13 religions represented by them. I've even seen monotheistic Wiccans! At least we Discordians agree on this much:

1. Nothing is true! Everything is permissible!
2. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
3. All is chaos--order is just the prevailing form of chaos.

While the only thing that seems to unite Wicca is the Wiccan Rede, and not all Wiccans even agree on that! So if such a chaotic, disagreeing religion as Wicca can be a federally recognized religion, then a chaotic, disagreeing religion like Discordianism is a religion. Sure, we're disorganized, but what religion truly is organized? Show me a truly organized religion, and I'll show you a Moon Monkey. No two people can ever fully, totally agree on ANYTHING. We Discordians just realized that, and made it our theology to not believe anything we don't want to.

So in conclusion, though Discordianism may be strange, and Discordians may be weird and seem to take nothing seriously, appearances are deceptive. Zen is a religion, and Discordianism is a lot like Zen in many ways, so it, too, is a religion. Oh, and the reader of this sentence is a genuine and authorized Pope, good forever. A-women.
